After the Ecco il Café experience, I considered the recent rainy and incredibly cold weather the past two days and thought that on this Friday Food Fest I would share the perfect homemade hot chocolate. Hmmm, this is something you can make for your guests or for yourself when you snuggle up to a movie or in front of a roaring fire. Brrr… Time get your scarves, beanies and all those fashionable winter accessories out of storage! I heard there is a good chance of snow this year. Enjoy!
Hot chocolate drink
This recipe was taken from Enjoy! Cooking with Anita & Deon Meyer |
Makes 4 portions
500 ml (2 c) full-cream milk
90 ml (6 T) hot chocolate powder
whipped cream (readymade in a spray can works well)
60 ml (¼ c) grated milk chocolate
4 long cinnamon sticks
or Flake® chocolates
Heat the milk in the microwave until it boils. Stir in the chocolate powder until it has dissolved. Pour the hot chocolate drinkinto mugs.
Serve
Serve with cream sprayed on top, the grated chocolate sprinkled over the top of the cream and
a cinnamon stick or bar of Flake® chocolate.
Mish take
Try a vanilla pod or a quarter of a chili finely chopped or for even more drama, grate white and dark chocolate over you’re your hot chocolate. For a slightly healthier option froth the milk and leave out the whipped cream, top with dark chocolate and add a tiny bit of chili and voila!
